トレード・ウィンド(Trade Wind)は、文字通り「貿易風」なのですが、語源辞典を調べてみると、どうやら貿易ではなさそうです。もともとは、トレード(trade)という語は貿易とは関係なく、「航路」とか「決まった通り道」であったようです。

それはさておき、この曲はパーカッショニストのラルフ・マクドナルド(Ralph McDonald: 1944-2011)とウィリアム・ソルター(Wiiliam Salter)の手による作品で、スコットランド生まれのマギー・ベル(Maggie Bell: 1945-)が1974年のファースト・ソロ・アルバム「クイーン・オブ・ザ・ナイト(Queen Of The Night)」で歌っています。

マギー・ベルといえば、やはりあの声です。耳について離れないというか、なんというか、声がとても印象的です。
