小学校時代の給食によくクジラベーコンが出されたのを記憶しています。給食に出ていたのですから、相当栄養がある食品であったのだろうなと思います。

Farewell To Tarwathie（フェアウェル・トゥー・ターワシー）とも言われているこの曲は捕鯨に出かける友の曲だそうです。昔は、ヨーロッパでも捕鯨は行われ、ここに歌われているように、大きな金に化けたようです。

地球上ではじめて銛一本で鯨と格闘した人間はどんな人だったのでしょうか。もちろん、命がけだったと思います、両者とも。

Tarwathie: タルワシー、スコットランドのアバディンシャー(Aberdeenshire)にある町
Mormond Hill: モーモンド・ヒル、同じくアバディンシャーにある高台の土地
Crimond: クリモンド、これまたアバディンシャーにある村
Greenland: グリーンランド（現在デンマーク領）、世界最大の島でそのほとんどが北極圏にある
