コーヒーを飲んでいると、近くの席には女性が3人。思い出話に花が咲きます。休みに行った海外旅行のようです。聞き耳を立てなくても耳に入る音量で話しています。
おそらく自分が写した、あるいは、自分が写っている写真ならば、一枚につき1分は話せるのではないでしょうか。
昔から、こういった物語的な歌が好きでした。今もそうです。だから、同じ歌詞が途中何度も繰り返し出てくるものより、こういう歌を聴いていました。今もそうです。
ただ、この歌、最後にこれでもか、と言わんばかりの繰り返しがあります。途中からボーカルに参加しているのは、ストーン・ザ・クローズ(Stone The Crows)にいたマギー・ベル(Maggie Bell: 1945-)です。このマギー・ベルが繰り返します。何度か分かりませんが、Every picture tells a story, don’t it と繰り返しています。

the Left Bank: ザ・レフト・バンク、パリを流れるセーヌ川の左岸、方角で言うと南側
Rome: ローム、イタリアの首都ローマ
the Vatican: ザ・バチカン、バチカン市国、ローマにあるキリスト教総本山
Peking: ピーキン、北京
Shanghai Lil: シャンガイ・リル、上海リル、上海といえば「リル」、女性の名前
Dickens: ディキンズ、チャールズ・ディケンズ(Charles Dickens: 1812-1870)、19世紀イングランドの小説家
Shelley: シェリー、パーシー・ビッシュ・シェリー(Percy Bysshe Shelley: 1792-1822)、19世紀イングランドの詩人
Keats: キーツ、ジョン・キーツ(John Keats: 1795-1821)、19世紀イングランドの詩人

そんなことは当たり前らしい
