ニューメキシコ州のRaton、最初に見たときは「レイトン」と読むのかと思いましたが、「ルトーン」と読む地名です。ニューメキシコ州ときくと、メキシコに近いから雪なんか降らないだろう、と思っていると大間違いで、雪は降るそうです。

他にも、テキサス州のアマリロやコロラド州のガニソン川が登場しますが、やはり、「よそ者」にとって地名は大敵で、その地名が持っている「何か」を読み解くのは至難の業です。

Raton: ルトーン、ニューメキシコ州北部の町
